At least, so says the World Health Organization (WHO), announced a new International Classification of Diseases and first included in the list of compulsive gambling. The new classification of diseases will be approved by the World Health Assembly in May 2019 and will enter into force no earlier than January 1, 2022.
Earlier, the inclusion of gambling in the list of diseases were representatives of the games industry. According to the US video game developers, Canada, Europe, Brazil and South Africa, for such a step has picked up enough objective scientific validity. At the same time, it was noted, have a game "educational and therapeutic" functions.
WHO experts do not think so in turn. According to them, the disease can be diagnosed by three main characteristics, namely: the person ceases to control myself, more and more time focusing games than the other aspects of his life; games start to prevail over the other life and everyday interests; People can not stop, despite the occurrence of negative consequences.
"Model behavior is serious enough, it leads to a significant deterioration in the personal, family, social, educational, vocational or other important areas of life", - stated in the explanation of the WHO.
In this case, the organization notes that for the diagnosis of the symptoms described above should be observed disease in humans within a year. At the same time, the observation period may be shortened if all signs of the disease become apparent immediately.
